SMITHIES BUTCHERS was originally
established in Silsden over 100 years ago by John Williams.
The company moved to its present shop in the bustling main
street of Kirkgate in1970 when John Smithies took over and
the current owner, Keighley born and bred Andrew Aspinall,
bought the shop when John Smithies retired in 2004.
Ever since he was 13 all Andrew wanted to
be was a butcher and when he left school he went straight
to take up an apprenticeship at one of the best and busiest
butchers in Keighley where he learned the trade from being
a lowly shop boy to being manager in charge of other staff.
Since buying SMITHIES BUTCHERS Andrew has maintained
both the high quality of the meat for which the business
has a strong reputation in the town and has also introduced
a number of innovative products to enhance the range of high
class products sold such as Andrew's Stir-Fry, Chicken Cushions
and Lamb Henry's to name but three. |
